They are mainly used to change the composition of complex mixtures of gases or liquids, through the internal and external settings of certain attachments, so that the material in the gas and the liquid, the gas and the solid, the liquid and the liquid or the liquid and the solid close contact, to complete the process of mass transfer (generally accompanied by heat transfer). The height and diameter of the tower are relatively large, and common towers include plate towers and packed towers.
Towers are used in a wide range of applications including, but not limited to, distillation, purification, absorption, rectification, and other process operations. According to different applications, towers can be categorized as chemical towers, environmental protection towers, food towers, pharmaceutical towers, and so on. Categorized by structure, the tower includes plate tower and packed tower, the former is internally set with flat plate, which is usually used in distillation, absorption and other processes, and the latter is internally set with packing, which is mainly used in gas-liquid separation, gas absorption, reaction and other processes. In addition, the tower can also be divided into mass transfer tower, adsorption tower and membrane separation tower according to the working principle.
The materials and structures of the tower are diverse, and common materials include stainless steel, fiberglass, titanium, etc. The selection of these materials depends on the specific application environment and process requirements. For example, stainless steel towers are suitable for applications requiring corrosion and high temperature resistance, while FRP towers are commonly used in environmental protection and wastewater treatment.
In industrial applications, tower equipment is commonly used in oil refining, petrochemicals, fine chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, environmental protection and other industries, involving distillation, absorption, desorption, vapor extraction, extraction and other chemical unit operations. For example, environmental protection towers are mainly used in the fields of flue gas desulfurization, dust removal, and wastewater treatment, while chemical towers are used in separation, reaction, distillation, absorption, and other process operations in the chemical production process.
