The process of rolling steel mainly includes the following basic processes:

Billet preparation: This stage includes cleaning of surface defects, removal of surface iron oxide and pre-heat treatment of billet.

Billet heating: as an important process in the hot rolling production process, billet heating is a key step to ensure the smooth rolling process.

Rolling of steel: this is the core of the entire rolling production process, through rolling to complete the deformation process of the billet, the quality of the product plays a decisive role. Rolled product quality requirements include product geometry and dimensional accuracy, internal organization and performance and product surface quality in three aspects.

Finishing: as the last process in the rolling production process, finishing includes steel cutting or coiling, post-roll cooling, straightening, finished product heat treatment, finished product surface cleaning and various coloring, etc., the quality of the product plays a final role in ensuring.

In addition, rolled steel production involves both cold and hot processing. Hot processing involves heating the steel, followed by operations such as hammering, stamping, molding and rolling. Cold working, on the other hand, is usually carried out after hot rolling and includes rolling, extruding and drawing, and the resulting product is usually finer than hot working. Modern mills can produce at high speeds, such as rolling out steel bars at more than a hundred meters per second, or making steel tubes more than two meters in diameter.
